What counts as a minute?
A minute is time the translator spends processing speech. It is measured from the usage the AI service reports for your session, not from a clock running on your device.
Speech is counted
While someone is talking, time is used, plus about two seconds after each sentence while the translator finishes.
Silence is not
Pauses, thinking time and an idle app cost nothing. The balance only moves while speech is being translated.
Understand uses more
It processes everything it hears, not only your own sentences, so a busy room uses minutes faster than Translate does.
How long does a pack last?
In our own testing, an hour of lively conversation with Translate used roughly 19 minutes. Your number depends on how much you talk. The panel shows your balance and what the current session has used.
| Pack | Price | Per minute | Conversation time at about 19 min per hour | Cost per hour of conversation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 60 minutes | $6.99 | $0.117 | about 3 hours | about $2.21 |
| 200 minutes | $19.99 | $0.10 | about 10.5 hours | about $1.90 |
| 500 minutes | $44.99 | $0.09 | about 26.5 hours | about $1.71 |

Pay-as-you-go or a subscription?
Minute packs suit people who translate sometimes: a few evenings a month in VRChat, a trip, a call with a friend abroad. You pay for those hours and nothing in between.
When something else costs less
- If you talk through a translator for hours every day, a flat-rate subscription from another tool will usually be cheaper than buying minutes.
- If text is enough, free chatbox translators for VRChat cost nothing.
- For travel, the free conversation modes in Google Translate and similar apps are hard to beat.
How buying works
-
Bought in the Android app
Minute packs are one-time purchases through Google Play. There is no web or iPhone purchase yet.
-
One balance everywhere
Your phone and every PC on your account draw from the same minutes.
-
No expiry, no renewal
We do not currently set an expiry date on minutes. They have no cash value and cannot be transferred.
-
Refunds through Google Play
Refunds follow Google Play’s policy. A refunded pack’s minutes are removed from the balance.
The free minutes are granted once per person and device. Full details are in the terms of use.

Do minutes expire? Is there a subscription?
There is no subscription and nothing renews. Minute packs are one-time purchases and we do not currently set an expiry date on minutes. Minutes have no cash value and cannot be transferred.
Do I need an Android phone to buy minutes?
